The Dragon Dance!

BANGLADESH-POLITICAL-CRISIS: A political crisis erupted in Bangladesh, which led to overthrowing of the Sheikh Hasina and her government. The movement for change did not seem to originate in the corridors of power, but on the streets of Bangladesh by students’ group. What seemed like a large-scale protest by students who seemed upset with a Supreme Court ruling on quota in government jobs, quickly turned into a political movement, with no apparent political actors. The ruling establishment was disposed and an interim government, led by Nobel laurate Muhammad Yunus, was established. All this seems to be an entirely internal affair of a country trying to coming to terms with its political system. Or, is it really?

Just a look at from India’s perspective, the events neither seems natural nor a spontaneous happening that can go unnoticed.

In the sketch, the Dragon as a puppeteer, is virtually calling the shots, in India’s neighborhood, with all the strings within its control. Regimes that are non-friendly to India, encircling it, seems to have been “automatically established by will of the people” across South Asia! The Dance of the Dragon in action. For representation purposes, I have used national animals of the countries: Cow of Nepal, Bengal Tiger for Bangladesh, and Markhor for Pakistan. For India, the national animal is Tiger, but I have used Elephant, and for China, although the national animal is Panda, I have used Dragon.
