In a recent interview, Arshad Warsi, famous for his role as Circuit in Munna Bhai MBBS, mentioned that Prabhas in the recent hit film, Kalki 2898, looked like a Joker, while Amitabh Bachchan, in the same film, was amazing. Obviously, calling out Prabhas or the character he played in the film, as Joker has not gone well with many, especially the fans and the south film fraternity. The question remains, what was Arshad W referring to: The character or the portrayal of the character by the actors?
When I watched the interview, it certainly seemed like Arshad W was referring to Prabhas’ character in the film, while he was referring to Amitabh’s portrayal of the character. By mixing up the yardstick during the comparison or discussion, it did end up looking like the actor, instead of the character, is being called out as a Joker.
In the sketch, two people are playing cards, with one of them holding a card of Ace. No guesses for who the person holding the card of Ace is and who represents the Ace according to the person who holds it. The spotlight, however, is on the Joker, who is at the center of the table. The part two of the sketch shows who the Ace is according to the legions of fans.
So, the joke is on whom?
