The Aspirational India Celebrates 78 Independence Day

India at 78! Is it a new kid on the block, young, old? What kind of aspiration should a nation at 78 have? Aspiration and hope are what drives individuals and society. Prior to India’s independence from the British, India as a nation always existed and thrived. But what enabled it to thrive and also give way to the British to rule it for over 200 years? The nation thrived by its noble values of co-existence and respect for individuals, and society rules; it gave way to British because they sowed and reaped benefits of the “divide and rule” policy. 

India has to raise its stature on the world stage, not just because it is the most populated country in the world, but more so because, India has a rich heritage and culture that is guided by noble principles. On the 78th Indian Independence Day, here is wishing and aspiring that just as the Universe is expanding, let the influence of India expand to the world to make the world a peaceful, serene and a place to for people to thrive and be happy. Let us all aspire to be a true Vishwa Bandhu to the world.
